For the Love of Bachata Attendee Agreement

At For the Love of Bachata (FTLOB), all actions, on and off the dance floor, must be consensual. If ever in doubt, follow this rule:

Yes, means yes. Anything that is not a YES is an automatic NO.

CONSENT:

- Ask your partner to dance and wait for an answer
- Respect the decision to decline
- Questions are encouraged – ask your partner if certain moves, holds, and actions are ok
- Tell your partner if something is uncomfortable and respect when your partner tells you something is uncomfortable
- Ask before giving feedback on someone’s dancing. Unsolicited dance advice is unwelcome.

INCLUSIVITY:

- Respect and refer to everyone using their preferred pronouns
- Use gender neutral language such at leads and follows
- Beginners are the future, ask at least 3 new people to dance
- Respect BOUNDARIES. Boundaries are about the person who sets them; don’t take it personally

COMPLAINT PROCESS:

To ensure our atmosphere remains safe for all attendees, FTLOB has instituted a Three Strikes complaint process; corrective actions are relative to filed complaints and range from verbal warning to expulsion from all FTLOB.

Strike 1: Complaint is filed; FTLOB staff discusses with individual(s) named; all parties sign off on counseling – Verbal Warning and/or removal from event.
Strike 2: Complaint is filed; FTLOB staff discusses with individual(s) named; all parties sign off on counseling – Verbal Warning and/or removal from event.

Strike 3: Complaint is filed; FTLOB staff discusses with individual(s) named; all parties sign off on counseling – Removal from event and/or expulsion from all FTLOB events.

If you are uncomfortable in a way that you feel is unmanageable, remove yourself from the situation and seek assistance from FTLOB staff. Staff can be found at the DJ booth or at the front desk. All complaints are taken seriously and will be kept anonymous.

FTLOB welcomes everyone; however, the festival’s management reserves the right to deny or revoke the attendance of any individual, at any time, for any reason. This action may be undertaken when an individual’s presence or behavior causes significant interference with festival operations or adversely affects the organization’s relationship with its guests or venue. FTLOB also reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior or posted notice.
